My name is Alex Black, and I created Courier Connect to help New York City delivery drivers access financial opportunities that are often difficult to reach on their own. Many couriers work long hours, support families, and rely on equipment that can easily break down, making even a small financial setback a serious obstacle. My interest in microfinance began through my work with the National High School Microfinance Coalition where I have helped expand student involvement in microfinance and connect young people with real-world financial inclusion work. I have also learned about microfinance through conversations with experts, independent research, and participation in communities focused on expanding financial opportunity. Over time, I became especially interested in how small amounts of capital can help hardworking entrepreneurs build stability, grow their income, and support their families. CourierConnect brings that interest into my own local community. By speaking directly with delivery drivers, learning their stories, and helping them understand the Kiva process, I work to make 0% interest microloan opportunities more accessible. CourierConnect does not provide loans directly. Instead, it helps drivers create strong Kiva profiles, communicate their goals, and take the next step toward greater financial independence.
